Virginia Tech's Lane Stadium has been the home of the Hokies since 1965.

Bids are due March 17. A mandatory pre-bid meeting was held Feb. 28.

Scope of Work

The project involves the preparation, repair, and coating of concourse surfaces.

Contractors will prepare surfaces before coating application by removing all existing coatings. If necessary, the contractor will be permitted to heat the area using a maintenance flame until the membrane is soft enough to remove the protection layer. Damaged concrete should also be repaired.

A new traffic coating material will then be applied to the concourse.

Some of the stadium's 66,233 seats will need to be removed, stored and reinstalled during the waterproofing project. Various repairs will also be required.

Contractors will be expected to remove and store the current installed seating before coating, and to reinstall the seating afterward.

About the Structure

Lane Stadium, home of the Hokies, seats 66,233 fans and has undergone numerous renovations since the first game was played in 1965. The stadium was completed in 1969 and cost Virginia Tech (officially, Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University) a total of $2.1 million to build.

A 26,768-square-foot addition, with bathrooms and concourse, was added in 1977. In 1981, an additional 12,500 seats were added to the initial structure at an additional cost of $3.17 million.

Modern improvements were implemented in 2006, with a $52.5 million addition that includes a media center, improved locker rooms, luxury suites, and an updated press area.
