City officials in Hialeah, FL, are inviting bids for painting and waterproofing the police headquarters building.
The project will involve the surface preparation and field application of paints and coatings to the interior and exterior of the existing police headquarters structure, near Miami.
Bids are due May 15.
The Project Details
According to the bid documents, contractors will be expected to remove and mask any current hardware and fixtures prior to surface preparation or finishing. All existing coatings exhibiting looseness or surface defects should be cleaned and removed.
Aluminum surfaces will be cleaned and prepped using steam or high-pressure water followed by an acid etch and solvent washing. Copper surfaces will also require high-pressure wash or solvent washing with a vinyl etch primer. Uncoated steel and iron surfaces will necessitate power tool wire brushing or sandblasting as well as solvent cleaning.
Interior and exterior woodwork are to receive primer, stain, and a varnish finish with gloss varnish reduced 25 percent with mineral spirits. Insulated and exposed pipes, conduits, ducts, hangers, brackets, and supports in finished areas will also be primed and painted.
Concrete and masonry surfaces will receive an exterior masonry acrylic primer with an exterior latex stain or an exterior latex glass. Exterior wood surfaces are to be coated in an exterior oil primer or exterior latex primer followed to an exterior latex gloss.
