Wednesday, January 9, 2013

The floors of a Portland, OR, bus maintenance facility will be getting a major upgrade with the recent award of a coating contract to The Rodriguez Corp.

Oregon’s Tri-County Metropolitan Transportation District awarded the $52,837.52 contract for work at the Center Street bus maintenance facility. The facility supports the highest volume of buses in the region.

The Portland-area contractor will clean and coat a total of 8,867 square feet of concrete floor surfaces within 19 bus bays, a loading dock area, and a solvent recycler area. The concrete will be degreased, shot blast-cleaned, and coated with a 100% solids, non-skid epoxy system.

The facility services about 280 buses per day, the highest volume in the region.

In 2009, TriMet was awarded $53.3 million in American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (Stimulus) funds for a variety of projects, including work at the Center Street facility. Underground tanks at the site have been replaced, and broken concrete in parking and travel lanes has been repaired.
