The Golden Gate Bridge Highway and Transportation District is seeking contractors to repair the M.V. Del Norte Ferry in San Francisco, CA.
The project includes providing propulsion overhaul and capital improvements to the 135-foot-long vessel.
Bids are due by 2 p.m. PT Oct. 7.
Scope of Work
The project includes pressure-washing and coating surfaces above the waterline, applying non-skid coatings to the deck surfaces, and optional items for coating new railings and stanchions.
Pressure-washing will be done at 3,000 psi to clean all above-water surfaces. Mechanical preparation for bare areas will require an aluminum oxide abrasive or copper-free equivalent.
All non-skid surfaces will require removal of existing rubberized deck coating prior to preparation. Outer surface coatings will entail an epoxy-urethane system.
The project will also include markings, coatings, replacement, and/or cathodic protection associated with a complete overhaul of the vessel’s rails, stanchions, joiner bulkheads, crew room, and other contingent items.
Free Delivery to Bay Area
The district will, at its expense, deliver the vessel to the contractor’s location within the San Francisco Bay Area. Otherwise, the contractor will assume the cost of taking possession of the vessel at the district’s Larkspur facility.
The high speed, 390-passenger double-decked catamaran vessel entered the fleet on Sept. 8, 1998.
