The City of Tampa is seeking contractors for cleaning and coating the Laurel Street Bridge.

The Laurel Street Bridge, also known as the Fortune Street Bridge, is a 365.8-foot-long pony truss single-leaf trunnion bascule bridge. The structure was built in 1927.

Scope of Work

Contractors will perform surface cleaning of the structural steel. Containment will be required. Structural steel will be painted with two coats of aluminum epoxy primer using either brush or spray coating techniques, followed by aluminum finish paint.

Work will also include 35,000 square feet of concrete surface coating using the Florida Department of Transportation Class 5 applied smooth finish coating system. Concrete will be cleaned and repaired using a polymer modified mortar for spalled concrete without exposed reinforcing steel. Exposed reinforcing steel will be hydro-blasted and receive an epoxy coating before repairing with mortar.
