FL Contractor Wins $684K Tank Rehab

The City of Cocoa has awarded a contract to rehabilitate and paint an existing 1.5-million-gallon elevated water storage tank.

C&D Construction Inc. of Cocoa, FL, beat out two other bidders with a low bid of $684,757.

Additional bidders included Close Construction Inc. of Okeechobee, FL, at $704,657 and Tank Rehab.com LLC of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, at $800,000.

The project bid Aug. 6.

Scope of Work

The project involves cleaning and coating the existing 1.5-million-gallon elevated tank, as well as performing structural rehabilitation.

The City of Cocoa has awarded a contract to rehabilitate and paint an existing 1.5-million-gallon elevated water storage tank to C&D Construction Inc. of Cocoa, FL.

The contractor will detergent wash and fresh water rinse all steel surfaces to be painted, then abrasive-blast clean them to a SSPC-SP 10 (Near White) finish.

Exterior steel surfaces will then receive an organic zinc rich primer, a high-build epoxy stripe coat, a high-build epoxy intermediate coating, and a fluoropolymer finish coat. Stripe coating will be brush-applied between the intermediate and final coats.

Damaged coatings will require hand or power tool cleaning before being recoated.

Work also includes repairing columns, welds and rods. The contractor will be responsible for replacement of all plates, nuts, pins and washers.
