Installation of handrails, improvements on the interior ladder, and replacement of the existing roof vent are included in the job requirements. The project also specifies installation of a passive cathodic protection system.

Exterior and dry base interior surfaces will require surface preparation to SSPC-SP 3 power tool standards of all rusted areas. Contractors will then apply a spot coat of zinc-rich primer to all bare metal surfaces followed by an intermediate and finish coat. Lettering will require at least one full finish coating using a roller application.

All piping, ladders, and walkways are to be prepped, spot primed and coated. Piping and dry interior ladders and walkways will be hand-tool cleaned to SSPC-SP 2 before application of a spot coat zinc-rich primer, intermediate and finish coating.

Wet interior surfaces will receive abrasive blast-cleaning to near-white conditions (SSPC-SP 10). Contractors will then brush blast all remaining areas. A self-priming epoxy liner will then be applied followed by disinfection processes.
