The Vermont Agency of Transportation is seeking contractors for the rehabilitation of the Seguin Covered Bridge located in Charlotte, VT.
Bids are due April 29.
Scope of Work
Work will include rehabilitation of the existing Seguin Covered Bridge, originally constructed in 1850. The Kingpost burr arch bridge reaches 71 feet long and 13 feet wide over Lewis Creek.
Although a plaque on the bridge uses the spelling Seguin, it is listed on the National Park Service’s National Register of Historic Places as the Sequin Covered Bridge.
The contractor will oversee the cleaning and coating of the bridge as part of the rehabilitation. The timber surfaces will receive fire-retardant and insecticide/fungicide coatings. Contractors will also be responsible for environmental protection and containment.
Additionally, the project includes application of a penetrating silane water repellent treatment. The owner-specified manufacturers include BASF, Vexcon, Advanced Chemical Technologies, PROSOCO and Dayton Superior.
Other work will entail the removal and repair of concrete and stone masonry, as well as rehabilitation of the shoring superstructure.
