Contractors are sought to oversee the cleaning and coating of a 5-million-gallon water storage tank in Dalton, GA. A mandatory pre-bid meeting is scheduled for Aug. 22, and bids are due Sept. 2.

Contractors will abrasive blast-clean interior surfaces to a Near White finish (SSPC-SP 10) prior to coating with a zinc primer, polyamidoamine epoxy and a modified polyamine epoxy finish.

Exterior surfaces will also be abrasive blast-cleaned to a Near White finish (SSPC-SP 10), although a bid alternative is included that changes the surface preparation to high-pressure water blast-cleaning at 3,500 psi and power tool cleaning to SSPC-SP 3 standards.

Regardless of the surface preparation treatment exercised, the exterior will then be spot-primed with a modified aromatic polyurethane and coated with a modified polyamidoamine epoxy intermediate and an aliphatic acrylic polyurethane finish. Containment will be required.

The coating brand specified by the owner is Tnemec, although products of equal quality may be approved.
