Kansas Influent Building Contract Awarded

The City of Lawrence recently awarded a project for the cleaning and recoating of an existing influent building and bio solids pump system located in Lawrence, Kansas, to Gray & Company Inc., of Topeka.

Gray & Company, which was the second lowest bidder, submitted a bid in the amount of $72,910 and was awarded the job. The contract bid July 26, 2016.

Scope of Work

Work will involve cleaning and recoating interior walls, flooring, stairs, piping, walkways and miscellaneous equipment surfaces.

The City of Lawrence recently awarded a project for the cleaning and recoating of an existing influent building and bio solids pump system to Gray & Company Inc., of Topeka.

The awarded contractor will oversee cleaning and hand or power tool cleaning of all surfaces to remove loose paint, rust, and mil scale. All surface preparation will be by hand or mechanical vacuum methods such as vacuum sanders, vacuum needle guns or vacuum scrapers. No abrasive blast cleaning, power washing, or paint-removal liquids or gels will be permitted.

Walls, Floors, Ceilings

Concrete walls, pump bases, and ceiling surfaces will receive a prime coat of waterborne modified polyamine epoxy and a waterborne acrylic two-component epoxy intermediate and finish coat. Concrete floors will receive two coats of epoxy finish coatings.

The contractor will also conduct coating of support beams, piping, hanger rods, pumps and motors with a prime coat of modified polyamidoamine epoxy and an epoxy finish. The walkway over the aeration basin will require prime, intermediate, broadcast and finish coats, followed by a polyurethane sealant on the expansion joints.

All paint material will be Tnemec or Sherwin-Williams; no other paint products will be permitted.
