The tank’s exterior surfaces will be abrasive blast-cleaned to a Near-White (SSPC-SP 10) standard and coated with a prime coat of a modified aromatic polyurethane, an intermediate coat of an aliphatic acrylic polyurethane, and a finish coat of advanced thermoset fluoropolymer.

‎The contractor will also abrasive blast-clean to Commercial (SSPC-SP 6) standards and coat ductile iron piping with a modified polyamidoamine epoxy system.

All interior horizontal, vertical, and overhead concrete will be abrasive blast-cleaned to SSPC-SP 13 standards or high-pressure washed prior to applying an epoxy resin binder and coating system.

The owner has specified that coating materials be manufactured by Tnemec, however, the contractor may substitute equivalent products by approved manufacturers such as Sherwin-Williams or Carboline.

Containment according to SSPC-Guide 6 will be required, as lead is present in some of the existing coatings.
