Job Responsibilities: 1) Provide structural corrosion assessment support for US Navy ships as required. Support shall include but not be limited to performance of normal checks, inspections, assessments, grooms, repairs, troubleshooting, technical oversight, and casualty repairs. 2) Assist with the preparation of the Departure from Specifications (DFS) and/or Engineering Service Requests (ESRs) as required. 3) Provide oral/written debriefs to designated representatives as required. 4) Provide training to ship's force personnel during shipboard evolutions.
Required Education: 1) Completion of Navy US Navy or equivalent level training for naval or marine hull and auxiliary systems. 2) Current certification for Shipboard Corrosion Assessment Training (SCAT) is preferred. 3) Minimum of 1 year specialized hands-on experience in conducting Corrosion Assessments on US Naval Ships including a minimum of 3 months experience with structural corrosion assessments in accordance with MRC G1N6. Tank and void assessments in accordance with MRC G1N5 may be substituted for the remaining required experience. 4) Must have hands-on experience within the past (1) one year on tank and void assessments. 5) Must be able to use and have experience entering data in the Corrosion Control Information Management System (CCIMS) data base. 6) Associates Degree in a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training or work experience.
Required Work Experience: Minimum of 10 years hands on experience with troubleshooting, operation, repair, testing and maintenance of naval or marine hull and auxiliary systems. Other Desirable Requirements: Working conditions: Some portions of the work is typically performed in an industrial, shipboard, or shipyard environment which requires proper safety precautions. The work requires moderate physical effort in the handling of materials, tools, cables and other equipment.
