Qualified candidates for the corrosion technician role will be responsible for cathodic protection of Koch Pipeline (KPL) assets and must be able to perform cathodic protection operation, maintenance & repair on pipelines, tanks & station facilities. Position Summary & Responsibilities - Must be able to perform cathodic protection testing, inspection, and repair on pipelines, tanks &station; facilities
- Assist others areas of the company in performing cathodic protection testing, inspection, and repair as needed
- Understand and develop relationships with customers, both internal and external.
- Must follow safety rules & regulations & promote a positive safety culture.
- Must strive for 10,000% compliance
Requirements - 2+ years pipeline corrosion experience
- Strong analytical, documentation and time management skills
- Excellent oral & written communication skills & the ability to communicate effectively with field personnel, contractors, customers & corporate personnel.
- Proficient computer knowledge, including all MS Office applications (Word, Excel, etc.).
- Must be a self starter & capable of effectively working in a team environment.
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds on an infrequent basis
- Ability to work outside in hot or cold climate conditions
- Ability to climb steps, ladders, or tanks
- Ability to wear flame retardant clothing (i.e. Nomex) when required
- Ability to wear required PPE while working, including at minimum a hard hat, safety glasses and heeled safety work boots
- Position requires the ability to wear respirator and to pass a respirator fit test
- Position requires a valid driver's license
- Must be able to respond to calls 24/7 for emergency response
- Must have the ability to respond within 30 minutes of assigned assets
Preferred - 5+ years corrosion experience
- 2+ years pipeline cathodic protection survey experience
- NACE certified Corrosion Technician or NACE certified CP Level I
- Proficient and knowledgeable of DOT 195 and/or DOT 192
Other Considerations - Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check, DOT drug screen, and pre-hire HAZWOPER physical.
- Must be able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) Card.
