Job Description:
Supervisor makes work assignments both orally and in writing. On own initiative determines cleaning methods, equipment and abrasives to be used. Supervisor spot checks work for overall compliance with acceptable trade practices.Performs duties of the removal of rust, scale, paint, corrosion and foreign matter from metal and nonmetal items ranging in size from moderate to large complex item utilizing equipment such as automatic blasting bays, nozzle blasting chambers, nozzle blasting booths etc.Operates abrasive blasting equipment: to clean rust, scale, paint, corrosion and foreign matter from metal and nonmetal surfaces. Controls pressure and abrasive by manipulating valves angles and distance of nozzle etc. to produce desired results. Assures that the proper abrasive i.e. metal, grit, metal shot, seed, glass bead etc. and/or consistency of combined abrasives: are used on the various surfaces to produce the desired finished product. Removes dust from cleaned item with high pressure air hose. Please note:Work on this contract is performed at the Red River Army Depot.
