Aerotek Energy Services is seeking a talented individual to participate as part of a dynamic team in the areas of engineering analysis, condition assessment and life prediction of piping, boiler, turbine/generator and auxiliary equipment used in electric fossil generating stations. The position requires the individual to develop the skills to manage and coordinate the technical and administrative aspects of the work. They are expected to actively participate in both internal and external training and development programs. Technical Qualifications: Perform evaluations related to design, life assessment and root cause failure analysis of pressure vessels and other power plant equipment. Perform thermal heat transfer, fluid dynamics and structural stress analysis of pressure vessels, piping systems, rotating equipment and other plant structures using both classic and finite element analysis methods Employ fatigue, corrosion and high temperature creep life assessment and fracture mechanics based crack growth concepts for serviceability assessment of damaged or flawed components Use experience with materials, welding and nondestructive examination techniques on projects. Assist and lead with field inspections of fossil-fueled power plant equipment. Mentor and train entry level engineers in stress analysis and life assessment techniques Prepare written technical reports and presentations. Business Development: Develop and expand business opportunities with existing clients Support development of new clients. Support development of new business offerings Develop proposals for opportunities identified. Internal Processes: Learn and implement all applicable standard company policies and procedures. Perform all work in accordance with Commercial Quality Procedures and with an acute awareness of client requests. Project Management: Act as project managers in execution of complex projects so as to achieve technical, financial and client satisfaction success. Mentor entry level engineers in all aspects of project management. Independently manage projects and develop the skills and knowledge to manage and execute large scale projects. Ensure quality by seeking peer review and appraisal. Travel: The position requires some travel. The typical trip duration typically ranges from 1 day to 2 weeks with most being completed in 5 days. Historically, the heaviest travel during occurs during March, April, October, and November. Travel is primarily domestic with occasional international trips. Education and Experience: B. S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering with 5-10 or more years of power plant or other related industry experience. Background in life management of critical assets or maintenance is a plus. ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Design Experience is a plus. Knowledge of SolidWorks CAD software, ANSYS FE software and general fracture mechanics concepts is a plus. Computer Programming experience is a plus. Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential, as well as a working knowledge of computer software including Microsoft Office. Experience in consulting, sales, or application engineering a plus. Professional Engineering licensure (PE) in one or more states is a plus.
