Position Title: Pipeline Engineer, Hydraulics (Project Manager)
• This position will be the internal Subject Matter Expert for Pipeline Hydraulic Design and Analysis. This position will provide extensive knowledge and engineering expertise in the transportation and storage of hazardous liquids through pipeline systems. The Hydraulics Engineer will conduct designs for pressure relief systems, specify equipment, perform pipeline surge analysis studies, develop pipeline hydraulic profiles and make recommendations for Maximum Operating Pressure (MOP) and Maximum Control Pressure (MCP) for safely operating pipeline systems. The Hydraulics Engineer will provide technical leadership for all aspects of pipeline hydraulics involving the pipeline for operational, construction and pipeline relocations issues.
Position title and level will be based on the qualifications, skill sets and related experience of the successful candidate.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
• Audit and review existing pipeline facilities to identify improvement opportunities, potential problems and remedies.
• Participate in studies and investigations related to new and existing pipeline systems.
• Develop plans for reviewing and incorporating new technologies.
• Conduct studies using licensed software packages covering pipeline simulation. using Stoner and Liqtherm software packages.
• Assist Engineering Project Managers and Operations in preparing project scopes, cost estimates, and execution plans for new and expansion projects.
• Conduct economic studies and cost analysis of pipeline systems in support of Business Development Units.
• Publish technical papers and make presentations to an audience of engineering and management experts.
• Assist Project Managers in the preparation of operations and installation procedures including the initiation and maintaining of drawings and calculations for inclusion in procedures/manuals.
• Mentor engineers for future hydraulic and surge analysis specialists.
• Will be assigned to the pipeline Engineering group and work closely with other business units.
• Keep Engineering Director updated on any project related issues and provide input and recommendations for technical improvements to existing and new pipeline systems.
• Understands and assures compliance with applicable local, state and federal regulations.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of management, employees, and vendors.
• Consistently maintain and demonstrate a high regard for personal safety, for the safety of company assets, employees, and the general public.
