Responsibilities
- Performs preventive maintenance and scheduled maintenance on main and auxiliary engines such as changes oil filters and spark plugs in engines, assists with inspections of engines, services station and pipeline valves, inspects and services fire fighting equipment, etc.; general maintenance duties include groundskeeping, housekeeping, painting and minor repairs at company facilities and along pipeline right of way; measures, cuts and bends conduit; and takes and records rectifier and pipe to soil readings.
- Assists other personnel including Operations Technician - Skill Levels 4, 5 and 6, Environmental Technicians, Corrosion Specialists, etc., with pipeline, equipment and/or facility repairs; acts as primary backup and relief person for Operations Technician Level 4; and performs manual tasks in the repair and construction of station facilities, pipeline, measuring stations, road casings, and valves.
- Services vehicles and other equipment; drives light trucks, light crawlers, and wheel tractors; and mows station yard, and pipeline R.O.W.
- Maintains up to date knowledge of safety policies, EPA guidelines, etc. to perform job duties in compliance with government rules and regulations.
- Maintains up to date knowledge of team concept and facilitation.
- Performs other maintenance and/or repair duties as required by the team.
- Must be available for emergency call-out duty in accordance with the facility call-out schedule and company call-out guidelines.
ADDITIONAL PERIODIC DUTIES FOR SPECIAL AREAS (RAYNE and HOUMA): - Coordinates liquid handling & prepares necessary paper work. Operates and monitors salt water disposal well. Monitors & records pressures, levels & temperatures of facility equipment.
- Cleans strainers at glycol regenerator units, absorber towers and R-Btex units; overhauls Kimray glycol pumps, tests and records chloride and pHs on glycol. Monitors liquid levels in the absorbers, scrubbers, separators and slug catcher.
- Monitors incoming gas flow and dew point and adjusts regeneration units to meet contract on gas specification. Checks and clears all station alarms.
- Assist in coordinating & scheduling of pigging operations.
- Operate boat and motor for access to pipeline and valve settings via waterways.
MARGINAL DUTIES: - Walks pipeline and reports condition on Pipeline Walking Report.
- Assists with Annual Corrosion Survey and Annual Meter Inspection.
- Cleans, paints and racks pipe.
- Assists measurement technicians with replacing and/or repairing valves and regulators.
- Installs and repairs right-of-way markers.
- Installs new lines: air, water, gas and associated valves.
- Digs ditches, bell holes and pits with hand tools, if necessary.
- Works in close proximity to hot work and hot taps on pipeline.
- Assists with training new employees for the Operations Technician Skill Level 1 position.
- Consults with landowners and recommends necessary corrective actions on ROW matters.
Selection Criteria- Applicant must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 1 year prior work experience required.
- Must be able to qualify as a D.O.T. driver
- Must possess good written and verbal communication skills.
- Requires some training in basic computer skills
- Must be able to work in a team environment.
- Must be physically qualified to wear any required respirators.
- Must be available for emergency call-out duty in accordance with the facility call-out schedule and company call-out guidelines.
- Must be available for overtime, shift work and travel.
- Mechanical ability or aptitude.
- Operations Technician - Skill Level 4 relief work requires math, reading and writing ability. Also requires some training in basic computer skills
- Various computer and electrical controls and alarms, computer, standard hand tools (screwdriver, hammer, wrench, pliers, wire cutters, shovel, etc.), skill saws, drills, rivet guns, impact wrenches, cranes, paint guns, tractor mowers, forklifts, etc.
- Safety of coworkers and equipment depends on each individual's job performance and mental alertness.
- Attention to detail required in safe shutdown of pipeline and positioning of station valves when required.
