The base oils it markets are the principle raw material used to produce premium motor oil, commercial lubricants and sealants and coatings.



Flint Hills Resources employs about 3,700 people who are focused on creating value for customers and society. This workforce includes plant operators, accountants, marketers, environmental, health and safety professionals and engineers, among other career types, who work in a variety of settings: corporate headquarters, terminals, refineries, ethanol plants, chemical plants or sales offices. The company owns refineries and chemical plants in Alaska, Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota and Texas, and ethanol plants in Iowa. In addition, the company owns and operates fuel and/or asphalt terminals in Alaska, Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, Texas and Wisconsin. Flint Hills owns an interest in base oils plant in Louisiana, and a biodiesel feedstock development company in California. In addition to sales offices in North America, the company has a sales presence in Switzerland, Hong Kong and Belgium to serve global customers.


Job Description & Duties:
Manage various mechanical integrity programs, including Corrosion-Under-Insulation, Protective Coatings, and Soil to Air including budgetary and reporting requirements. Knowledgeable in mechanical integrity of fixed equipment and piping in accordance with API 510, API 570, and API RBI. Able to analyze thickness data in UltraPipe (or similar Inspection Data Management System) and RBI data in support of fixed equipment scope of work development for turnarounds and routine maintenance. Scope, perform and/or coordinate turnaround inspection activities. Supply internal customers with inspection and repair recommendations in support of routine maintenance on piping and pressure equipment. Develop repair plans for pressure vessels and piping in accordance with API 510/NBIC or API 570 codes. Identify damage mechanisms as well as evaluate susceptibility and corrosion rates.

Work Experience & Skills Required:
  • API 510 (Pressure Vessel) and API 570 (Piping) Certifications with 15+ years of experience as an Inspector.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power Point, and Outlook).
  • Database management skills.

Work Experience & Skills Preferred:
  • API 510 / API 570 Certification with NBIC, API 653 (AST), and API 571.
  • Experience in Risk Based Inspection and PVcalc or similar software experience.
  • 5+ years of inspection supervisory experience.

Education Required:
  • High School diploma with required work experience and skills.

Education Preferred:
  • BS degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology or Mechanical Engineering.

  • Management experience
  • AWS CWI Certification
  • Additional certifications / ind. degree
