Kelly Scientific Resources is currently seeking a quality-oriented
Coatings Chemist Technologist
Position Guide Summary:
The company has filed a patent for a game-changing coating technology, which is being tested and qualified by some key customers. Company is looking for an experienced coatings technologist/chemist who has worked with both waterborne and solvent borne urethane coatings. Primarily, this is a laboratory position, but could evolve to some customer technical sales. The successful candidate will have the responsibility for the processing, application and testing of coatings solutions for arduous industrial environments.
The job responsibilities include, but not limited to:
•
Responsible for ordering raw materials, maintaining MSDS and TDS for RM???s.
•
Responsible for following formulation procedures and keeping detailed laboratory notebook with formulations, observations and results.
•
Maintain laboratory equipment in good working order
•
Proactively suggest raw material changes that will result in performance improvements or/and cost reductions.
•
Operate equipment and perform activities in a safe manner; Good Laboratory Practice shown.
•
Clearly communicate results; written and verbally
•
Help define, shape and populate Technical Data Sheets (TDS) and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS)
•
Interact with independent laboratories to submit coatings for testing.
Minimum job requirements
:
•
BS in Chemistry/Polymer Chemistry
•
Minimum 2-3 years of experience in paint or coating industry.
•
Possess a good knowledge of formulating industrial coatings
and must be a motivated, and can work under minimum supervision
•
Prior experience formulating, applying and testing industrial coatings
•
Ability to work through details from the laboratory to scale-up
