The City of Glenwood Springs, CO, is seeking bids to repair, clean and recoat the interior of one of the city's 500,000-gallon water storage tanks.

A mandatory pre-bid meeting is set for Aug. 26. The budget for the project is $150,000.

Scope of Work

The project involves cleaning and coating the interior surfaces of the welded steel Cardiff potable water storage tank to AWWA standards. The interior will be abrasive-blast cleaned to SSPC-SP 10 (near white) and lined with a hydro-zinc primer and an epoxy intermediate and finish system.

The contract includes repairs, cleaning and recoating of the 500,000-gallon tank. The contractor must also inspect the coating one year after the work is completed.

The contractor must also provide an alternate to spot clean and coat exterior surfaces of the tank with a zinc epoxy-urethane system. The city will conduct a lead paint analysis and present the findings at the pre-bid meeting.

The contractor and representatives of the city will also inspect the interior and exterior coating systems one year after the painting work is completed. The initial inspection report was presented by Advanced Diving Services in October 2012.

About the Utility

The City of Glenwood Springs has six water storage tanks that range from 150,000 gallons to two million gallons and has a total of 5.15 million gallons of treated water storage.
