The Illinois Department of Transportation is seeking contractors interested in the renovation of the Joe Page Bridge linking Calhoun and Greene County, IL.
Bids are due March 4.
Scope of Work
Work will involve performing cleaning, recoating and repairs on the existing 1,728-foot vertical lift bridge. The Joe Page Bridge includes a 308-foot main span over the Illinois River.

Contractors will oversee abrasive blast-cleaning of structural steel surfaces to a Near White finish (SSPC-SP 10) and spot power tool-cleaning to commercial standards (SSPC-SP 15). Structural steel will be recoated with a zinc-rich primer, an epoxy intermediate and a polyurethane finish.
The contract includes 19,160 pounds of structural steel repair. There is also 236 square feet of median removal required, followed by 260 square feet of concrete median construction.
Work also includes 791 square yards of thin bridge deck overlay application.
The existing coatings contain lead. Containment is required.
About the Bridge
The bridge was dedicated to Joseph M. Page on July 23, 1931. Page served five terms as mayor of Jerseyville and was responsible for the bridge’s construction. Roughly 9,000 cubic yards of concrete were used to build the bridge.
