Contractors interested in performing maintenance, spot-repair and overcoating of the Delaware Memorial Bridge located in New Castle, DE, are urged to bid on an upcoming project through the Delaware River and Bay Authority.
The 10,797-foot-long suspension bridge links Delaware and New Jersey over the Delaware River.
Bids are due May 25.
Scope of Work
The project will involve the annual maintenance, spot-repair and overcoating of approximately 575,000 square feet of structural steel members on the west truss spans of the first structure of the Delaware Memorial Bridge.
The west-approach truss spans consist of five deck truss simple spans with top and bottom lateral systems and sway bracing members at four panel points in each span.
Repainting consists of a preparatory cleaning of all surfaces to receive paint. Work will include application of a sealer coat, spot-prime, spot-finish and finish coat of paint.
Other miscellaneous metalwork to be repainted includes lighting standards, handrails, transverse overhead gantry, bearing shoes, deck expansion, walkways, ladders and waterlines.
The structure recently underwent urgent construction on the support cables on the southbound span.
