The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation is seeking contractors interested in the rehabilitation of the South Tenth Street Bridge located in Pittsburgh.
This project is a rebid of two previously cancelled projects which bid Aug. 13 and Aug. 25, 2016.
The estimated cost of work is $ 20 million to almost $25 million.
Bids are due Feb. 16.
Scope of Work
The project involves performing repairs to the South Tenth Street Bridge, a 1,275 foot suspension bridge spanning the Monongahela River.
The project includes a total of 1,086 square yards of penetrating sealant protective coating application for reinforced concrete superstructure and substructure surfaces. The owner-approved manufacturers for penetrating sealers of substructure surfaces are Advanced Chemical Technologies, Aquron, BASF, Concrete Sealants, Inc., Euclid, Evonik, Prosoco, Vexcon, Wicktek, and Xypex. The owner-approved manufacturers for penetrating sealers of superstructure surfaces are BASF and Euclid.
Contractors will oversee coating of the existing and new structural steel surfaces. The project will also require 9 square yards of epoxy resin protective coating application and 6,032 square yards of membrane waterproofing to be installed on other surfaces.
Work will also involve coating handrails with an organic zinc-rich system. Coating of cables with a high-build acrylic system is also included. Containment is required. Steel mating surfaces and top flange surfaces will also require coating application.
