Allied Wins New Jersey DOT Bridge Painting Contract

The New Jersey Department of Transportation has awarded a $6,987,728.10 contract to Allied Painting of Franklinville, NJ to clean and paint five existing bridges throughout Passaic and Morris Counties. The ARRA-funded project includes abrasive blast-cleaning to a Near-White finish (SSPC-SP 10) and recoating structural steel surfaces with a three-coat organic zinc-rich system. The contract requires Class 1A containment according to SSPC-Guide 6 in order to encapsulate existing lead-based paint, in addition to SSPC-QP 2 certification. The contractor must provide a NACE Level 1 certified coating inspector to perform quality control inspection services. The project also includes epoxy waterproofing application.
