The Oregon Department of Transportation awarded a contract of $986,000 to West Coast Coating Consultants of Berkeley, CA, to perform inspection services for coatings work on the Astoria-Megler Bridge, a 21,474-foot-long by 28-foot-wide cantilever through truss bridge over the Columbia River. The contract, which required NACE or SSPC certification, includes an estimated 17,000 hours of inspection services. The project, which will be performed by Abhe & Svoboda, Inc. of Prior Lake, MN under a separate contract of $13,369,910, includes lead abatement and moisture-cured urethane coating system application on a 2,472-foot-long section of steel truss spans on the northern end of the structure.
