Amstar of Western New York, Inc., of Cheektowaga, NY, was awarded two separate contracts by the New York State Department of Transportation for bridge painting work at various locations. The contractor was awarded a contract of $4,525,000 to recoat twenty-five bridges in Allegany and Steuben Counties and a contract of $1,729,000 to recoat nine bridges in Cayuga, Onondaga, and Oswego Counties. The steel surfaces on both sets of bridges will be abrasive blast-cleaned to a Near White finish (SSPC-SP 10) and coated with a zinc-rich primer, an epoxy intermediate, and a urethane finish. The contracts include containment of lead-bearing coatings.
