New York State Bridge Authority Announces Newburgh-Beacon Bridge Painting Job

The New York State Bridge Authority will accept sealed bids in late October for coatings work on the North Span of the Newburgh-Beacon Bridge over the Hudson River. The project involves recoating superstructure elements on the 7,855-foot-long bridge, including approach beam spans, girder spans, deck trusses, floor system surfaces, and thru truss surfaces. The steel will be abrasive blast-cleaned to a Near White finish (SSPC-SP 10) and recoated with a waterborne acrylic system. The contract includes erecting a Class 1A containment structure (SSPC-Guide 6) to control the emission of the existing lead-bearing coatings.
