Eagle Painting and Maintenance to Recoat Historic Bridge

Eagle Painting and Maintenance Company of Lansing, IL, secured a contract of $2,542,500 from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation to recoat the historic Michigan Street Bridge over the Sturgeon Bay Ship Canal. The 1,420-foot-long through truss bascule bridge was built in 1930 and has been the object of local preservation efforts for the past 20 years. The structure will be abrasive blast-cleaned and recoated with a zinc-epoxy-urethane system. The contract includes erecting a negative pressure containment system to control the emission of the existing lead-bearing coatings.
