Amstar to Rehabilitate 2 MG Tank

The Town of Holden, MA has awarded a contract of $555,000 to Amstar of Western New York, Inc. (Cheektowaga, NY) to rehabilitate an existing 2 MG ground-level water storage tank by recoating interior and exterior surfaces and installing a hydrodynamic mixing system. The interior surfaces of the 104-foot-diameter by 32-foot-tall welded steel tank will be abrasive blast cleaned to Near-White finish (SSPC-SP 10) and lined with a zinc-epoxy system. The exterior surfaces will be abrasive blast cleaned to Commercial finish (SSPC-SP 6) and coated with a zinc-rich urethane primer, a polyamidoamine epoxy intermediate, and an aliphatic acrylic polyurethane finish. The contract includes containment of the existing lead-bearing coatings.
