The Oregon Department of Transportation accepted sealed bids on March 11th, 2010, for coatings work and miscellaneous repairs on two movable bridges in Coos County. The project involves abrasive blast-cleaning and recoating steel surfaces on the 702-foot-long x 26-foot-wide Bullards Bridge over the Coquille River (pictured) and the 1,194 ft x 40 ft wide bascule bridge over the South Slough. The low bid was submitted by S&K Painting, Inc. of Clackamas, OR, at $4,841,060, followed by a bid of $5,237,629 by Purcell Painting and Coatings of Tukwila, WA and a bid of $7,409,904 by Dunkin & Bush, Inc. of Portland, OR.
