The Virginia Department of Transportation recently awarded three contracts for surface preparation, coatings application, and environmental protection services on existing structural steel bridge surfaces. Saffo Contractors, Inc. of Wilmington, NC, was awarded a contract of $724,978.40 to recoat 446 tons of structural steel on two bridges over the Pamunkey River in King William County; Atlas Painting & Sheeting Corporation of Amherst, NY, was awarded a contract of $885,000 to recoat 188 tons of structural steel on four bridges in Arlington County; V.H.P. Enterprises, Inc. of Tarpon Springs, FL, was awarded a contract of $1,734,700 to recoat 708 tons of structural steel on eleven bridges in Salem County.
