Caltrans Awards Bridge Coating Contract to Murphy Industrial Coatings

Murphy Industrial Coatings, Inc. of Signal Hill, CA, was recently awarded a contract of $894,800 by the California Department of Transportation to clean and recoat existing structural steel surfaces on a 5-span continuous riveted steel plate girder bridge over the Colorado River in Imperial County, CA. The project will require SSPC-QP 1 and QP 2 certifications. Approximately 5,000 square feet of corroded steel will be spot-abrasive blast-cleaned and primed and all exposed steel will be coated with a waterborne aluminum system.
