Era Valdivia Wins Thermal Spray Job

The Illinois Department of Transportation awarded a contract of $295,000 to Era Valdivia Contractors Inc. of Chicago, IL, to abrasive blast-clean and refinish steel surfaces on five bridges. The project includes metalizing existing steel surfaces, including beam-ends under deck joints. The project also includes applying an organic zinc-rich primer, an epoxy intermediate, and a urethane finish to existing steel surfaces. The contract, which requires SSPC-QP 1 certification, includes containment of non-hazardous paint debris.
