The New Hampshire Department of Transportation awarded a contract of $669,000 to Prime Coatings, Inc. of Salisbury, MA, to clean and recoat structural steel surfaces on a 220-foot-long overpass and a 142-foot-long overpass in Portsmouth. The steel will be abrasive blast-cleaned to a Near-White finish (SSPC-SP 10) and coated with a moisture-cured urethane system. The contract requires containment of the existing lead-bearing coatings within a Class 1 containment structure (SSPC-Guide 6). SSPC-QP 1 and QP 2 certifications are also required. The completion date for the project is set for November 5, 2010. Reported by Paint BidTracker.
