Bids will be opened Aug. 25 for concrete repair, cleaning and coating of the secondary clarifier and scrubber system at the Nansemond Sewage Treatment Plant in Suffolk, VA.
The project involves cleaning and recoating an existing odor control station and the associated piping, as well as steel rake arms, center structures, and concrete launder troughs in two secondary clarifiers. Each clarifier is 160 feet in diameter, and the main header pipe on the scrubber system is six feet in diameter.

| The bid solicitation includes an option for applying an antifouling coating to the concrete. |
Exposed steel will be coated with epoxy-polyurethane systems, and submerged steel will be coated with epoxy systems.
Antifouling Option
The concrete launder troughs will be repaired with a rapid-cure mortar and refinished with a high-solids epoxy system (base bid) or an antifouling system (option).

| Nansemond is a 30-million-gallon-per-day (mgd) secondary treatment facility. |
Bids must include a three-year Performance Guarantee on materials and workmanship. The Hampton Roads Sanitation District, which owns the plant, will conduct annual inspections of the work at the 30-million-gallon-per-day (mgd) secondary treatment facility.
