This project involves cleaning and spot-coating lower chord connections on the approach spans of the 4,755-foot through truss toll bridge over the Columbia River, connecting Oregon to Washington State.
The bridge was built in 1924, extensively modified in 1938 to accommodate dam construction downstream, and features a 262-foot vertical lift span.
Scope of Work
This work consists of preparing, spot coating and caulking the lower chord connections and 12 inches beyond. Lower chords in spans 12-19 (1,664 feet) will be coated first, followed by the lower chords in spans 1-10 (2,097 feet).
The existing coatings contain lead; containment is required. The steel will be abrasive blast-cleaned and coated with a two-coat moisture-cured urethane system.
