A Florida contractor has been awarded a $296,500 contract to paint the service and spillway bridges at the Beltzville Dam in Lehighton, PA.
The US Army Corps of Engineers awarded the project to Spensieri Diversified LLC, of Haines City, FL.
Scope of Work
The base project, which requires SSPC-QP 1 certification, involves power washing the existing coating and applying a new coating system to the exterior girder faces and bottom flanges on the service bridge, as well as cleaning and lubricating the bridge bearings.

The contract also includes two options, which were exercised:
• Power washing the existing coating and applying a new coating system to the girder interior faces and interior cross frames of the service bridge.
• Power washing the existing coating and applying a new coating system to the girder exterior and interior faces, interior cross frames and bottom flanges of the spillway bridge.
The steel will be pressure-washed (SSPC-SP 12, Condition WJ-4) at 2,000-5,000 psi, spot power-tool cleaned (SSPC-SP 3), and coated with an aluminum epoxy mastic spot primer and full intermediate and an aliphatic acrylic polyurethane finish. Class 3P and 4W containment (SSPC-Guide 6) is required.
