New Hampshire Seeks EPA-Accredited Contractor to Provide Lead-Safe Training

Tuesday, January 3, 2012

The New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services is seeking a contractor to provide U.S. Environmental Protection Agency-accredited training in lead-safe work practices for Renovation, Repair, and Painting (RRP) to approximately 150 individuals.

Bids are due Jan. 4. The contractor must provide the training including EPA/HUD Model Renovator Courses and EPA/HUD Model Renovator Refresher Courses from April 11 through Dec. 31.

 EPA

The intent of this request is to solicit EPA-accredited trainers to provide training at no charge to trainees and to encourage compliance by those firms that have been hindered by cost concerns associated with the EPA training fees, the Department of Health and Human Services said.

One of the training courses must be provided in EPA’s Spanish-approved format, according to the application information.

New Hampshire communities where children are at a high risk for lead poisoning include Manchester, Berlin, Claremont/Newport, Franklin, Laconia, Nashua, and Rochester, the Department of Health and Human Services said.

The federal RRP rule requires contractors who work in pre-1978 homes, schools and day-care centers to be certified in lead-safe practices.
