The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation will accept bids March 20 for painting and other maintenance on the agency’s Research Vessel (R/V) Seth Green.

Made of steel, with an aluminum superstructure, the vessel is 47 feet long, 17 feet wide and weighs about 70 tons.
Scope of Work
The project includes cleaning and coating approximately 1,100 square feet of hull surfaces and 900 square feet of surfaces above the waterline. The project also includes coating 600 square feet of superstructure and pilothouse surfaces.
Other required services include haulout, storage fee and re-launch, and removal and re-installation of the propeller. Current pictures of vessel condition are available upon request. The work will be completed approximately between Aug. 15 and Sept. 30, 2012.
DEC staff will be on site to oversee the maintenance work and to perform additional work. Department vessel operation and staff travel costs will be taken into consideration in awarding the bid.
Built in 1985, the R/V Seth Green is operated by the New York DEC Lake Ontario Unit based at the Cape Vincent Fisheries Station. Its primary function is to conduct annual assessments of Lake Ontario's fish stocks.
