The Ohio State University is seeking a construction manager at risk for a $4 million waterproofing and concrete repair project at the Buckeyes’ historic Ohio Stadium in Columbus.

Proposals are due Sept. 21. OSU has scheduled a pre-proposal meeting for Sept. 18, and the final decision will be made by Sept. 28.

The Stadium

Built in 1922, the Ohio Stadium is a sports landmark whose iconic horseshoe-shaped design has become a template for stadiums across the U.S.

OSU is looking for a contractor at risk for a waterproofing and concrete repair project at its historic football stadium.

With a capacity of 102,329, the facility has been described as both “intimate and intimidating,” and it undergone a number of updates and renovations over the years.

Pre-Construction Services

OSU seeks interested firms to submit proposals to provide pre-construction and construction services for work, including removing and replacing the existing waterproofing membrane, removing and replacing the expansion joint seals and sealants, and performing concrete repairs at the stadium.

The project is set to run Dec. 1, 2012 to Aug. 15, 2013.

During the pre-construction phase, the contractor at risk will work with the owner, design professionals and project team and will provide cost estimating, budgeting, constructability review, value engineering, scheduling, planning and other services.

Construction Project

As for the construction phase of the project, the parties will maintain an “open book” pricing method and the contractor will perform the project in accordance with construction documents.

The contractor “shall hold all subcontracts and shall be fully responsible for the means and methods of construction, project safety, project completion within the schedule agreed upon in the pre-construction phase, monitoring compliance with EDGE (Encouraging Diversity, Growth and Equity program), equal employment and prevailing wage requirements and submitting monthly reports of these activities to the owner.”
