Bids are due Oct. 9. The owner has scheduled a mandatory pre-bid conference and site visit Sept. 28.
The scaffold rigs, manufactured by Manning & Lewis Engineering, are used to perform cleaning and maintenance work on four 20-story, 310-foot buildings in the Gov. Nelson A. Rockefeller Empire State Plaza.
The Empire State Plaza is a 98-acre complex of several state government buildings and convention centers, museums, and performing-arts centers. Built between 1965 and 1978, the capital center hosts state employees, locals and visitors.
A virtual tour of the plaza is available here.
The Contract
The contract involves cleaning, priming, painting and repairing steel components of the existing suspended scaffold rigs. Gaps and seams must be caulked to prevent rust bleed, and a weld inspector must be commissioned to check the integrity of the welds on the equipment.
The contract also includes other repairs, such as replacing rusted fasteners, lubricating moving parts, and installing new wire ropes.
The owner has set an $85,000 cap on the project.
