The Great Falls Bridge, a historic span that once appeared in the TV show The Sopranos, will undergo rehabilitation by Anka Painting of Palisades Park, NJ.
The Passaic Valley Water Commission awarded a $314,340 contract to Anka Painting for the work.
The historic, 124-foot-long structure over the Passaic River is located in Paterson, NJ. The bridge was last rehabilitated in 2004.

Anka Painting, based in Palisades Park, NJ, will paint the historic Great Falls Bridge.

Anka Painting's winning bid was one of seven received. The other bids ranged from $320,500 to $773,357.
The rehabilitation work includes abrasive blast-cleaning and recoating structural steel surfaces with an organic zinc-rich primer, an epoxy intermediate, and a polysiloxane finish. The existing coatings may contain lead.
A pre-bid meeting was held March 7.
The project also includes removing certain sections of fencing on the bridge and replacing them with new fencing, and replacing or repairing designated bridge structural members.

The Great Falls is a 77-foot-high waterfall on the Passaic River.

The Falls were designated a National Historic Landmark District since 1976 and a National Historic Park in 2009. The Falls’ raceway and power systems were made a Historic Civil Engineering Landmark in 1977.
In addition, the Falls were featured in the pilot and the sixth episode of Season 1 of The Sopranos, "Pax Soprana," in which in which two mobsters threw a drug dealer to his death from the bridge and into the Falls.
